Akron, Ohio - September 29, 2010 - Nineteen research projects, with findings ranging from the effectiveness of pain relief methods to the measurable impact of exercise, were presented at the 12th annual Thera-Band Research Advisory Committee (TRAC) meeting held July 19-21, 2010 in Athens, Greece. Fifteen international researchers and clinicians met to present and discuss research on Thera-Band® and Biofreeze® products. The diverse group represented five different countries and included physical and occupational therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists and university professors.
"As an organization, we have been committed to supporting evidence-based practice for over a decade. Our TRAC research helps professionals understand how to best utilize our effective products in practice," said Phil Page PhD, PT, ATC, Director of Education and Research for the Thera-Band Academy. "The diversity of the TRAC professionals ensures a great blend of clinical and research knowledge, and exposes different points of view from various disciplines and cultures."
"This year's research topics ranged from applied science to clinical outcomes, and most will support patient satisfaction, improved clinical outcomes and/or lower healthcare costs," added Page. "I'm not aware of any other manufacturer that invests at this level to support evidence-based practice with their products."
The most significant conclusions from the research presented at the 2010 TRAC meeting included:
