Orlando, Florida— August 27, 2016 — Today at The National Convention and Expo, ChiroHealthUSA announced the recipient of ChiroHealthUSA Foxworth Family Scholarship in honor of President Dr. Ray Foxworth’s parents, Drs. Betty Pace Mathews and Charles Vernon Mathews. ChiroHealthUSA awarded $10,000 to Amber Horsley, a chiropractic student at Texas Chiropractic College, and made an additional $10,000 donation to the school. Ms. Horsley was unable to be present for the check presentation, but Dr. Stephen Foster, President of Texas Chiropractic College, was pleased to accept it on her behalf. “It is no surprise to us at Texas Chiropractic College that Amber was awarded ChiroHealthUSA’s Foxworth Family Scholarship. She is such an incredible example of what makes chiropractic such a great profession,” Foster stated before accepting the award.
Like Dr. Foxworth, Amber never planned on becoming a chiropractor. Knowing that she wanted to work in the medical field, she shadowed doctors in clinics and hospitals trying to find something that aligned with her personal philosophy on health care. Reflecting on that time, Amber said, “I realized that I was searching for something that wasn’t there.” She went home to Google “alternative health care.” Her search brought up the Alternative Health Care Center, and she walked into the office of Dr. Robert Kuyper the following week. She did not know until she arrived at his office that Dr. Kuyper was a chiropractor. After that visit, she knew in her heart that she wanted to be one, too.
Upon hearing that she had been selected as the recipient, Amber stated, “I am honored beyond measure to have been allowed this opportunity to further my career in such a rewarding way.”
Arthur Godeau, Director of Financial Aid for Texas Chiropractic College, was not at all surprised to hear that Amber had been selected as the first recipient of ChiroHealthUSA Foxworth Family Chiropractic Scholarship. “She is a motivation and inspiration to other students,” Godeau said. “No one is more deserving of ChiroHealthUSA Foxworth Family Scholarship than her. I am so proud of her and her accomplishments thus far.”
Students may begin submitting applications for the 2017 scholarship immediately. The deadline for submissions is March 3, 2017. The recipient of the scholarship will be notified on or before July 1, 2017 with the recipient being publically announced during The National Convention in Orlando in August of 2017. “There are no words that can truly explain what chiropractic means to me. I started this scholarship because I wanted to give back to a profession that has meant so much to me and my family,” said Foxworth. “We all belong to chiropractic, and we all need to help, invest, and support the advancement of our profession.”
Founded in 2007, ChiroHealthUSA is a simple, compliant and profitable way for chiropractors to offer affordable care to their patients.
