January 26, 2015 - PHOENIX, Arizona – World leader in technology development for the chiropractic industry, Neuromechanical Innovations (NMI), announced today that it will be offering a new Dynamic Functional Rehabilitation seminar as part of its postgraduate educational course offerings. The course will provide chiropractors in clinically supervised wellness training through high intensity, short duration programs for implementation into their practices. The technology and techniques for concentric, isometric and eccentric force production provide strength, balance, bone health and fall prevention solutions for the growing at risk population.
"We're thrilled to offer this new seminar program to our clients as it brings the latest information in high intensity interval training to the public through chiropractic offices," said Neuromechanical CEO, Dr. Chris Colloca. Dr. Colloca majored in Exercise Science in his undergraduate studies at Ithaca College (Ithaca, NY) and has more recently studied high intensity interval training as part of his PhD curriculum in the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University. The seminars will initially be offered in the San Francisco area in a clinical setting in Napa, California and in Naperville, IL on the outskirts of Chicago, providing convenient locations for study for NMI's over 10,000 clients in the USA. The program represents a strategic alliance with Napa based technology company, BStrong4Life Corporation.
NMI adds two of its Impulse iQ users to its instructor faculty to provide leadership for this course. Dr. Scott Heun is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) and 1983 graduate of Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, IA. Dr. Heun is the co-founder of BStrong4Life, Inc. and founder of Chiropractice Mentoring, LLC. A seasoned clinician and successful mentor, Dr. Heun is the clinical director of BStrong4Life® Napa Valley Center, a state-of-the-art health care facility in Napa, CA specializing in care of the spine and extremities, as well as providing a cutting edge training system to conservatively address sarcopenia, osteopenia and osteoporosis. With extensive training in clinical biomechanics and vast experience in assessing, treating and managing complex spinal and extremity problems, Dr. Heun applies innovative solutions to improve patients' structure and function and brings a comprehensive conservative approach to musculoskeletal health.
Dr. Perry Cammisa was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1991. He is the owner of Ultimate Chirocare in Naperville, IL and co-founder of BStrong4Life, Inc. His unique approach to training has led him to become a sought-after specialist in Whole Body Vibration Therapy as well as Dynamic Functional Training and Rehabilitation. Dr. Cammisa is a Chiropractic Bio-physics Specialist with extensive experience in chronic pain management. An avid golfer, Dr. Cammisa is a golf-conditioning expert and serves as the medical director for Rabito Golf Academy and on the medical advisory board of Power Plate North America. His focus on structure and function and his engaging, enthusiastic style have made him a prominent trainer for Doctors throughout the country.
The new seminar provides chiropractors with a new dimension and target niche in the musculoskeletal healthcare marketplace with the ability to immediately implement high tech dynamic functional rehabilitation programs that can produce measured results and significant benefits in extremely efficient timespans. Proactively improving strength, structure and function in a clinical environment has vast benefits for our society beyond traditional fitness. In 2012, the CDC reported that the direct cost of falls in older adults was approximately $30 billion. Older adults are 5 times more likely to be hospitalized as the result of a fall than from any other injury. Further, bone weakness compounds the risk of serious injury and the cost of drugs alone that treat osteoporosis is projected to exceed $11 billion in 2015.
Patient goals including improved proficiency in activities of daily living, functional strength, sagittal balance and increased bone density are monitored and used as outcome measures in the program. The program is also part of a larger data collection and outcome tracking program to be used in research. Jeff Gerlomes, CEO of BStrong4Life, Inc., states, "we could not be more enthused about our alliance with Neuromechanical Innovations. NMI's innovative tools and cutting edge science combined with our system, training and protocols provide the potential for a complete chiropractic solution. This combination provides a foundation that seamlessly transitions patients from active, condition care to a long-term maintenance and wellness program that can dramatically improve quality of life. We are proud to be joining Dr. Colloca and his esteemed team at NMI."
